here without you - 3 doors down

A hundred days had made me older
since the last time that I've saw your pretty face

A thousand lights had made me colder and I don’t think I can look at this the same

But all the miles had separate
They disappear now when I’m dreaming of your face

I’m here without you baby
but your still on my lonely mind
I think about you baby
and I dream about you all the time
I’m here without you baby
but your still with me in my dreams
And tonight it’s only you and me

The miles just keep rollin
as the people either way to say hello
I've heard this life is overrated
but I hope that it gets better as we go

I’m here without you baby
but your still on my lonely mind
I think about you baby
and I dream about you all the time
I’m here without you baby
but your still with me in my dreams
And tonight girl it’s only you and me

Everything I know,
and anywhere I go
it gets hard but it won’t take away my love
And when the last one falls,
when it’s all said and done
it get hard but it won’t take away my love

I’m here without you baby
but your still on my lonely mind
I think about you baby
and I dream about you all the time
I’m here without you baby
but your still with me in my dreams
And tonight girl it’s only you and me

i miss the place where i stayed at when i was in cebu. i miss the stain-filled sofa covers. i miss our dining chairs that easily gets broken. i think jeric broke 1 chair and nuelle broke another one and that left us with only 2 chairs. i miss the biohazard fridge in that place also. food stored there have been there for i think as early as the time that the fridge first got there, prolly 2 years. i still remember some of the stuff inside our fridge. uncooked tilapia, lyxx's C2 apple, my C2 apple, smarties from chelsea last xmas, cheese dog i bought before, curded milk nestle of course, etc. i miss the microwave. i miss our electric stoves we have 2. the switch of the other one is broken so you can only use it for frying the other, works well. i miss our toaster which has a lot of yucky grimes underneath the grill. i miss my blue glass and the other one i use, the tall one. i always keep my glasses inside my room because i don't want anybody using it including the ipis. hehe i miss our trusty water dispenser it always provides hot and cold water. i miss my squeaky clean bathroom. i miss my bathtub i always sleep there when i wake up too early for work. i miss the toilet, it leaks so you have to turn the faucet on for the flush to work. i miss the counter that is where i brush my teeth while looking at myself in the mirror. i miss that mirror too it doesn't lie, it always shows a good reflection of me. the bathroom is special because this is where i spend my personal time. when i am in different emotional states, the bathroom is my refuge. lastly, i miss my bed. i miss my orange checkered sheet, 2 pillows, blue big blanket, and nestle green and blue (my small pillows from tij).

haaaaaay..... sa na i could go back there even just for one night to relive my moments spent there.

i want to post a new blog but i can't think of anything to write. recent events have been too overwhelming i guess or maybe things are just ineffable. ineffable meaning it can't be explained. i got that cool word from ted mosby while watching an episode of how i met your mother last night.

speaking of how i met, we had a mini marathon last night during class. my class enjoyed it very much we finished 6 episodes. i always integrate fun while learning and showing how i met to class is one ofe the cool things that i tried. this is what i did, i showed them how i met and in every episode there are intervals for commercial breaks. so, during those breaks i pause the video and discussed modules. It was kinda effective because they don't get bored and they are very much awake and attentive during discussions. I guess everybody had fun last night...

"inay?......... 'nay?......... INNNNNNNNNNAAAAAAAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!!!!"

bow....

When i've had coaching sessions with my team leaders, it just meant one thing... I did something terrible and they needed to call my attention. 2 days ago, Oka told me that he has to talk to me about something. I immediately said to myself, "shet eto na naman. ano na naman kayang ginawa ko." Little did i know that this time around, it was different. You know what he said? Ok, let's pause right there because I have other stories to tell... Side story number 1: I bought a copy of modern drummer yesterday. It featured so many new gears that will make every drummer drool. (uy astig yun ah, "drum drool"... patented yan ah. hehe) It also had an article on the basics of playing double bass. I thought of buying a set of double pedals before but i decided not to because i want to explore all posibilities of playing a single ped before moving to double. Side story 2: For two days now, i've had dreams that seemed to be very real. It's kinda difficult to explain the first dream i'll just move to the next. The second dream was, a trainer told another trainer right in front of me, that it was a good thing that i was transferred to another program because i didn't have the skills. Good thing it was just a dream, or is it? hehe

I'm such a lousy story teller. I jump from one topic to another. Going back to my coaching story, so, there I was waiting for oka to drop the bomb. To my surprise, a non-lethal, non-destructive, bomb was thrown at me. It was more like bomb shaped pllow that can't do any harm exept for those unfortunate people who has asthma. :) Oka said i'm going to be transferred to an AOL program which is GREAT because that means i have little adjustments to make and it's in Makati which is more accessible for me. I'm soooooooo happy. Once again God showed me that if it's for me, it's for me. (direct translation in tagalog, "pag para sakin, para sakin heheheh)

AOL rocks!
Cebu rocks!
pelaez street rocks!
makati rocks too!

mabuhay tayo lahat! :)

Gretsch

The moment i got back here in Manila, i immediately checked the local music shops that i used to go to. I went to different places like Raon, JB Music in megamall, JB Music at SM City, Audiophile Cubao, Lazer at alimall, and Salonga Music Shop also in Cubao.

Over the years, I have tried out all sorts of drumsets. Entry level ones like Maya, Fernando, Lazer. Kits for intermediate users such as Pearl export series, not so high end Premier and Yamaha kits. I also had the opportunity to play on jawdrop kits like, Gretsch, Pearl Master Custom, DW, Ludwig and a lot more. (i played with kickass kits when i was still in the U.S.) For about 9 years i only wished and prayed to own a decent Pearl drumset. It changed last year when JB started to ship Gretsch kits here in PH. Now, i don't want to own anything else but a Gretsch kit.

Gretsch prices range from 30K to as much as 100k and it comes with Gibraltar hardware. If in case you don't know, Gretsch doesn't manufacture their own cymbal stands, pedals, and other hardware. I think, they are part owners of Gibraltar or something like that. So, i checked the different models of those Gretsch kits at the store and online and there was one that really captured my attention. I fell in love with Gretsch's Catalina Ash model. Here is how it looks like. (I can't find a picture with zildjians on it so just disregard the cymbals)

The shells of this kit are made of ASH wood. I don't know how it sounds bright, warm, or dark but it sure looks nice. What i really liked about this kit was it came with a free 8" tom. Imagine for 38K you'll get 6pc kit with Gibraltar Hardware and Zildjian Planet Z Cymbals. I know it sounds like they are really trying to get rid of this set for selling it at that price but i don't care. I want this and I'm gonna start praying and saving for this kit or better yet, if they want to give me an endorsement deal i wouldn't have second thoughts accepting it.

Friends, there you have it, a complete blog on Gretsch Catalina Ash Kit. I hope that you also remember to pray for me so that i'll be able to experience that "great gretsch sound" soon.

new setup

I just want to share with you my newest and by far, the easiest drumkit setup that i use.

Here's a picture of my new setup. I was trying to be funny hence, the pose so just ignore it.
If you have noticed, i placed my splashes on top of my crashes invertedly. I got that idea when i saw Steve Smith's video playing along with Victor Wooten. My current setup really works for me because of a lot of things. First, i don't have to exert much effort hitting the splash after i play my crash because it's just on top of it. Second, it allowed me to use the stands for other cymbals. I don't need to purchase any additional stands for my splashes anymore. So, if you're a drummer trying to look for the best setup, I'd recommend this one.

My kit includes:
13" Zildjian A Custom Projection Hats
8" Avedis Zildjian Brilliant Splash
10" K Zildjian Splash
16" Avedis Zildjian Medium Thin Crash
18" Avedis Zildjian Thin Crash
20" Zildjian K Custom Ride
18" Oriental Classic China

I use a Pearl Maple 14"x4" Piccolo Snare Drum or the standard 14"x6.5" Pearl Steel Snare depending on the type of music I'm playing.

My bass pedal is a Pearl Power Shifter Eliminator single pedal with the blue cam installed.

The drumkit that i'm using is our old church drumset. I'm still saving up for my own drumset and I'll surely write something about it in my blog once i buy one. :)

Lastly, I want to say "thank you" to our Lord Jesus Christ for allowing me to have this setup. If it wasn't for Him, i might be just playing Sabians.... hehehe no offense to sabian players out there I'm a HUGE Zildjian fan. :)

United

We all know that today is America's independence day. It was July 4 when America's forefathers signed the declaration of independence to end the British rule over the U.S. I began to take note of this celebration when i started working in a call center. Call center employees eagerly anticipate this date because next to Thanksgiving day, this holiday is when we rarely get any calls. Last year was different. I was fortunate to celebrate 4th of July in the place where it's supposed to be celebrated at. Yes, i was there in the states, in San Fransico...

I enjoyed that experience very much. My relatives really prepared for our 4th of July dinner they even opened an expensive bottle of wine. I can still remember what we ate that night, we had steak, mashed potato, buttered vegetables, and of course, rice. hehe During the weekend before the holiday, all the shops put their stuff on sale. I didn't hesitate to buy a nice pair of nike shoes because not only was 40% slashed off, I had 50bucks to spare because i won in a casino at Reno.

Aside from those cool things that happened, a lot of realizations surfaced. I noticed that in America, despite the slump in their economy, they still can afford to put a lot of money on their fireworks display. I think every city even the most remote one had fireworks. What amazed me wasn't the fireworks nor the 4th of July hype. The most awesome thing i saw on that occasion was how americans have set aside their differences and became one in unity.

I won't bother comparing the U.S. and the Philippines in terms of independence day celebration anymore. The reason why i wrote this is because i am an advocate of unity. I have been seriously thinking about what i wanted to stand up for these past few months and what had sprung to my mind was UNITY. For me, differences are inevitable and true unity lies on how much sincere we are in accepting those differences. I have done small things to promote unity and i hope that those people whom i have spoken with will really understand the essence of it.

One day, it won't be a dream but a reality.
